Wine Glasses engraved by Shirley Watkins
« on: May 21, 2010, 01:46:03 PM »
I bought these wine glasses in a box of glass at my usual auction here in Scotland and wondered if anyone knows anything about this engraver -Shirley Watkins, googling brings up only a stained glass artist in the US.  To my untutored eye the work on them looks quite good. I am assuming that these are engraved, as I can feel the pattern just below the surface, but I'm still nervous about the terminology of engraving, etching, sandblasting etc, so do put me right if it's another technique.  They will probably end up on Ebay so I like to describe items accurately.

The base is marked Rosa Canina Shirley Watkins 1979.

Many thanks, Iain

Iain
