Irridescent small vase
« on: May 22, 2010, 05:13:47 PM »
When I saw this vase I initially thought very modern and spray painted until I held it.  I had a good scratch of it and it does not flake and its had a wash and still not flaked so not spray painted  ;D
The base does have a fair amount of wear around the edge I hope the pic shows this well.
Could anyone kindly help define the manufacturer and age please.
Many thanks

Looks a bit like Webb's 'bronze glass' have only seen pictures in books so no idea what the base would be like and don't know if Webb signed these pieces,Keith.

Keith, I also thought bronze glass as I happened to come across it on great glass when looking for something else but like you have no idea re the base.  If anyone else could jump in that would be great .
Thanks

My first thought was Imperial. The form and finish look like some of their early pieces.

I was able to find a catalog of Imperial art glass pieces online. Your vase was not among the forms -- close, but no cigar. Sorry.

Thanks for looking Anita really appreciate it.  I was going to ask about the iron mark but wish to dig further on that anyway.  One of the imperial marks I mean not on my vase.
