Topic: BOUGHT AS WHITEFRIARS BUT DON'T THINK SO

Hi I bought this as Whitefriars at my local car boot but thinking this is perhaps Czech??   Would I be on the right lines?  It measures about 3 1/2" tall.   Thanks again for any help.

I am sorry Kerry I have no idea, I was offered 3 red ashtrays this weekend claiming to be Whitefriars although  my initial thought was Murano. I do not know what to look for to be able to tell the difference. Maybe someone on here can give us a quick lesson eh

Thanks for looking anyway.   Do you ever go on the Whitefriars.com website?  You can look through their catalogues which are quite comprehensive.   After that I am a bit lost I'm afraid.   It's interesting learning though, but my head is always spinning with new information.   Can't quite fit it all in.

These and other similar ones with indents on the rim, are often described as Whitefriars knobbly bowls.  They never are.  I have one of the other similar ones on my Knobbly Blog, which I was told may be Czech, but never have had a firm ID.
But if you look on the blog at least you will see the real deal, and that they are very different.  Whitefriars did not seem to deviate from the standard bowl shape and I have never see a W/f with indents on the rim.
