« on: June 02, 2010, 12:37:34 PM »
This pretty piece came in a mixed lot, I am not sure if the signature is true or not?  Does anyone recognise it?

thanks!
Thank you very much!

I found one GDV company in Murano -- Giacomo Della Vella. They make jewelry, but perhaps they have done some other things? The link to their jewelry is http://www.giacomodellavella.it/.

Thank you Anita!  I would think there would be some mention of sculptures in the catalogue, but I wonder if maybe it is something that they used to make, and now just make jewellery?  Maybe we will never know..:)
Thank you very much!

Or it might be someone's initials. I don't have any faith in GDV being the same one as the link... but maybe?

It is neatly signed, seemingly with no effort to deceive, so yes, initials of some kind. If it isn't a major house, it is so difficult to know who it might have been unless anyone has a similar figurine that is attributed.
Thank you very much!

I like it very much -- Beautiful  :hiclp:

I did find this link, not that it helps much -- but this is signed with GDV too.

http://www.treadwaygallery.com/ONLINECATALOGS/MARCH2005/0451-0500.html
Quote from that Link:
451. Colorful Longwy vase, small tapered form with incised floral design, #363, 3”h; with a G.D.V. vase, (not shown), four sided shape in a crystalline glaze, signed, 5.25"h, chip to foot

Found a  Bruere G.D.V. vase, but that is in porcelain .  See here http://www.treadwaygallery.com/ONLINECATALOGS/March2004/0351-0400.html Item #399 listed there.
Quote from that link:
399. Bruere G.D.V. vase, tapered shape covered in a nice multi-toned gray ground with a brilliant platinum crystalline glaze, signed, 6.5"h, mint

??? Not sure any of this helps....but hey....maybe it will lead somewhere....as maybe they just marked (for ID purpose in their house, office...) that it belonged to them....or was sold off from an Estate of someone that worked at this company, and they just marked the glass item with the initials for part of an estate...

Ok......I am going out in left field here......ALL guesses.
