Skrdlovice? Ashtray
« on: April 04, 2010, 02:23:34 PM »
Hello all
We got this ashtray, well in fact we have a pair but only pic of one, today at a brocante. My first thought was Skrdlovice but really not sure.  They are knobbly rocky glacier type crackle glass.  The colour did not show too well but it is like a yellowy green.  The base as shown is almost all a polished pontil.  This one stands just under 9cm high and approx dia of 8cm.  The other one is of similar size but more so 8.5cm high.
Could anyone kindly confirm or deny my thoughts, id age please.
TIA
Margi

Hopefully these pictures show the colouring better and the polished pontil.

Unlikely Skrdlovice, i dont think they had polished pontils, or very rarely
we discussed possibilities on a clear ashtray here,

I think much may apply to yours too.

Thanks Andy.  Just to reiterate that the ashtrays are not clear the second photos are more a true likeness with a yellow green tinge.  Whilst I did just locate what could be another of my ashtrays as being sevres I personally dont think that these knobbly ones have much of a similarity to the clear one on the link or the others shown.  I have a fair few Vannes, sevres, VSL, Daum etc but these are nothing like them quite different indeed.  I do appreciate all thoughts though.

Sorry Mragi,
i realised yours isnt clear, its just the knobbly shape and the polished pontil are similar.
Italy may be a possibility.
