Barbini Bowl, is it alexandrite glass?
« on: June 10, 2010, 01:45:12 AM »
I have this huge beautiful bowl, with the Barbini Weil label, which absolutely glows, but very hard to get a good photo of the true colours. I think its possibly alexandrite glass? On a dark background its a deep cerise, and very light pink on a white background.

Can anyone confirm that's its alexandrite glass?

Only you can do that. See what colour it is under a fluorescent light (strip type) and then see what colour it is under an incandescent light (light bulb type) or in daylight. If it changes colour, then yes it is some kind of rare-earth-containing glass.
