MOSSER GLASS CO, VI HUNTER ANOMALY
(1/1)
Sue C:
Hi all, i have just found a figurine that is very like the Vi Hunter Jenny doll's from the Mosser glass co, although there are obvious diifferences there are also striking similarities
the first one is the real Jenny doll but the second one is made up of what look's like a polished marble body and the head is made of some sort of shiny soap stone? (not sure?) and it has feet.
Did Vi Hunter design the Jenny for any other material? or has someone just made this because they liked the design?
Sue C:
Hi, a couple more photo's
jsmeasell:
I've done a lot of consulting work with the Kent State University Museum here in the States, and they have quite a few of these glass figurines.
Is your piece larger than the glass version? If so, the glass version was likely the inspiration for someone's carving project.
Sue C:
Hi James, and thank you for your reply, yes, the carved figure is larger than the glass figure, by about half an inch, but i have to say the carved figure is superb, my photo's do not do it justice, whoever made it took a lot of time and care into it's creation!, the head look's like polished Cinder toffee! it is really hard to explain, you would need to feel and touch it!.
Also, why would they add feet? and why would it be in a boot sale in England ? sorry a lot to ask :-\
