Making glass "domes" to replace broken one on old photo frame.

I have looked for shallow glass domes to replace a broken one on an old frame and photo.
I don't seem to find them online, perhaps I used the wrong search term.

The original is an oval 16inches by 12inches and domes up about 1.5 inches in the center.
What is the process for making something like this and what materials and equipment do I need?
Are there any locations online that would point me in the right direction?
I have produced several satined glass items, so I know -something- ablout glass.

I understand that the process will be complex, but that doesn't bother me. Perhaps I'll even make a hobby of making and selling them.

The only time I have seen the kind of glass you are describing is on a Cristolian - a picture painted on the inside of a piece of convex glass and then framed (usually antique). Finding an oval replacement may be tricky but luckily you need a 'standard' size, have you tried picture frame suppliers?  if you are in Britain you could try phoning this bunch: http://www.wessexpictures.com/ if they can not help they may well know who can. Otherwise try a framing suppliers in your own country.

You could make one/have on made, you would need to have a sheet of glass slumped in a kiln over a suitable former.

It looks like Cristolian may be spelt Crystoleum, but there seem to be several spelling variations in use.
