Cambridge Glass Label (USA) in Gallery

I don't know exactly how to go about this, however the label shown as "Cambridge" in the URL posted above is not the Cambridge Glass Co. most know from 1901 to 1958 & may cause some confusion. Its Super Glass Co. (not a joke)  founded by Bernie Friedman of Brooklyn, NY. In 1959 Friedman approached Imperial Glass Company for contract work & a possible merger of Super with Imperial or a purchase of Imperial. His offer was declined. He then in 1960 leased the old Cambridge plant that closed in 1958 & aquired the legal rights to use the Cambridge name.  Super moved four 5 ton glass tanks, lehr, molds & tools. Super operated the Cambridge plant from 1960 to 1964 & closed in 1964 because of ongoing labor problems (strikes). Super did continue to produce glass in their Brooklyn plant after they left Cambridge. Super made vases, bowls, etc. of a decorative nature that were sold through department stores, plus lamp parts for many manufacturers.  Super used three labels while at the Cambridge plant.  Again this should not be confused with the Cambridge Glass Company that operated the plant in Cambridge Ohio from 1901 to 1958.  The types & quality of glass produced by Super while leasing the old Cambridge plant are totally different than those produced by Cambridge. Someone may choose to delete this as Cambridge or modify it as Super Glass Co. even though it says Cambridge. I have attached a Cambridge label that was used up until 1954 when the plant first closed. Ken

Ken, thank you, that's very useful information to have. I've amended Rose's label description and added a link to this topic for more info. May I add your Cambridge Glass label to that gallery as well for reference please?

Yes Anne by all means you may use that label. Its probably the most common of the Cambridge labels although there are not  that many varieties.  Below are some examples of Super Glass products produced at the old Cambridge plant. As you can see they were more of a contemporary design nature of the 60's. Ken

Yup, Vintagerose, Rose. :)

Ken, thank you, I'll add it now, and thanks for the link (it didn't work for me but I searched for Super Glass and found the images anyhow) - very interesting to see these. As you said, very contemporary looking.
