its only small just 4" high, the mark on the base looks like it's only half there, the funny thing about the vase it looks like it been made back to front i.e. the Gold leaf is on the out side not cased in glass then what appears to be a thin white layer then dark green then clear inside hope this makes scene and some speck's of yellow and red just around the neck

Hi Ray
Lovely piece - good find.
Maestri Vetrai (Murano) have done some similar stuff but their pieces seem generally to be larger.
Is the surface texured ? it looks like it is but you never know !!!
I dont think it has great age not that that is necessarily bad in any way.
You might try searching for simlar items by using the search terms "adventurine crackl* ". Try searching Yahoo Images as well as Ebay.
Pete

Didn't Frank see a piece like this in a museum once?  Different shape, but that  surface texture looks so familiar.  Ask Frank if he remembers...

Heck, I can't be sure of this at all.   The vase I remember was (I think) predominantly black and an ovoid shape.

Tricks of the mind, I saw it two years ago and now had forgotten it. On seeing it now it seemed familiar. I expect that is what happened here. Yes it is like Monart Cloissone but nothing to do with the Ysarts. It is a technique used widely and in variations.

Datewise, it could be 19th century or 2003.

Can you do a better (2 years of technology advance) pic of the mark Ray?

(My camera is 5 year old Nikon held together by selotape :( )

Sorry Ray...I had a go at least.  Thanks Frank, I should have guessed it was Monart.

The effect is not dissimilar to V.Nason, where aventurine appears to be on the outside (isn't this where the copper is 'marvered' onto the body?)

But the pontil mark looks a little like Liskeard – but I'm sure it isn't! 8) Can you take another photo of this, Ray?

Frank,
I think this is Dartington Studio, with the blow-pipes mark.
Here's another for comparison:

The type of decoration looks familiar too. Sue may be able to confirm.
