Contemporary Studio? Cast? Molded? Glass w/ Deco Look
« on: July 27, 2010, 08:59:46 PM »
I purchased this from the estate of an ecclectic collector in Richmond, VA (US).  It appears contemporary, but was curious if there was any input about possible marker, or any information about studios producing this type of work presently.

After searching through previous board posts and the extensive discussions regarding cire / pate / mold / pressed.  I'll just call it a big hunk of glass that measures 8 1/8" across the top rim and 5 1/4" high.

Both base and top are flat ground with a matte finish, not polished, appears to be a molded bevel on the base edge.  Weighs a hefty 10 pounds.

There is a very faint hand engraved cipher "LAR" on the base but that could have been done post production by anyone.

Any opinions?  At least it will make a great plant stand
