Hi, Thanks to Ahremck / Ross for putting a name to the signature on this interesting vase, i have since googled Chris Pantano and found pieces in (gallery beneath) which are Quite expensive, prices range from $1000 / $5000 Australian dollars for other pieces made by him, my vase is Dreamtime but can't find any like this, question is would this vase be worth anything like mentioned above or am i just having a dreamtime myself, I understand that something is only worth what two people are prepared to pay for an item, Im just a novice here and would appreciate your views on this one.
Thanks Robert.

He's an Australian/world glass bigwig, so yes, though those are gallery prices.

Thanks Christine, I guess i got a real bargain then from that charity shop several years ago, they obviously didn't know what they were selling and i definatly did not know what this was either, i think its only fair now that i return to the shop and give them a very big donation. Thanks again Robert.

Hey Robert  :)  You bought it because you liked it, and that's beautiful.  It lovely when things work out like this, I hope you've enjoyed owning it, I hope you do well if you sell.   :) :) :)

Chris Pantano used to have a lovely studio at Montville, Queensland, Australia.  About a year ago we were there and it no longer exists.  Chris may have ceased blowing.  In my opinion his work is brilliant because he originated several distinct series of pieces.  Dreamtime (Aboriginal motifs), Reef (based on the Barrier Reef), Rainforest, Desert, to name some I saw and could not afford to buy at the time.  Several of the influential artists from that area Lucas Salton, Richard Lamprecht(Ricardo Glass), Tina Cooper, and Mark Kalifa also ask and get prices in the $2000 range.  Most of them have copied Chris - often almost slavishly.  I would suggest that it might well cost what you have researched - especially if it is large - I have forgotten the size.

For such a high value item you might want to consider entering it into a specialist sale with one of the auction houses that handles such items. It might be worth sending some emails with photos to several and ask if they would be interested in selling it. I'm sure other members will be able to advise you as to who to approach depending on where you are (UK, USA, etc...) Good luck with it, I hope it does well for you. :)

The only auction house I know in Yorkshire is Tennants at Leyburn, who I've always found very helpful with enquiries. Some of their sales are live internet auctions too (not eBay) but they take bids online as well as at the sale room etc... that's a useful option with a piece with international appeal.  http://www.tennants.co.uk/ There are salerooms elsewhere though, so wait for other suggestions before you decide. ;)

Hi folks    :hi:

Nice piece there OP.  I found this forum doing a search to seek out Chris as well as look for more of his works to purchase for my collection.
I have 6 pieces of his work of differing series. I need to take new photo's of what I have here though.... and upload to a photobucket account.

Anyone know what's happened to Chris? His web site seems to have been closed. I really do hope all is well for him.... not all that easy being an artist sometimes.

Hmmmmmmm .... yes, nice piece from a later series than anything I have here.  Will it be sold on, OP?

So it goes.
