Hi the bowl is almost 6" wide, the height is 4" and the thickness of the glass is exactly half an inch.  Again many thanks for your help

I could *swear* your thread title didn't have 'Val St Lambert' in it when I made my suggestion!  If it did then huge apologies for stating the obvious ...

Hi,

Various people have already mentioned Mark Hill's book, Czech, Novy Bor (where it was probably made) and the 'Dual' range, but, unless I need those new glasses quicker than they are already being made, no-one has mentioned the probable designer - Karel Wunsch.

As soon as I looked at your photo, that was my first reaction, and would be where I would be looking for an attribution for this really good looking bowl. If it is the Dual rang, then it is early 1960's, but Mark also talks about the 'Trial' range which was similar, but with three colours. Could also be form the series when it appeared to widen out using more shapes, and designers, in 1971. Other designers of the series at that point include J Stahlavsky and Jiri Kratochvil. See also page 20 of the book.

Thank you Nigel, just picked up your message have been looking at Novy Bor as suggested but could not see the colouration in question.  Back to the library later but at the moment have to dash to get my little pip squeak to her activity centre.  Glad people seem to like it - it jumped out at me but had to haggle it down from 45 euros to 25 euros another little bargain.

I would also say that this piece comes from Novy Bor, but not exactly Dual set. Can you please supply me better photoes, I will ask Mr. Karel Wünsch on my next visit in Bor.
