Baccarat Glass pieces... Need help with identification please
« on: August 10, 2010, 09:50:16 PM »
I got these two pieces of baccarat glass, but I do not know what they are.

photos don't do them exact justice.  They are 2 interlocked squares, with the center portion being solid glass and the outer "L" shapes that are formed, being like small bowls.

I thought perhaps they were for the desk to hold paperclips, or for the dining room table as open salts.  Since I wasn't certain, I wrote to baccarat and communicated with 2 representatives, one in NY, one in Paris, and they could not find these pieces in their catalogues, so they told me they  must be from an "older collection"

Please, does anyone recognize this style/pattern.  Or at the very least, can you tell me what their use is?  I would be most obliged!
Thanks,
HoneyB

Oh, my goodness!  Thank you sooo much!!!   And thank you for the nice welcome!

I've been working on id'ing this glass for more than a week...  I'm so pleased I joined this board!

Just one more question.  Do you have an idea of age?  I looked at your jpg (thanks again) but I do not see a date.

Honey

Look on the left-hand side of the web page; it says Baccarat ohne Jahr, which I think means unknown year. Looking at the other items in the catalogue, I would said say early 20th century, perhaps 1920/30s

Lots of lovely catalogues to enjoy on that site http://www.glas-musterbuch.de
