ardy, I saw the vase, but couldn't add anything useful. Marina Barovier has a couple of things by Da Ros in her book on glass animals. The pieces have a bit of the same spirit, but are totally different. The vase does have the Da Ros look about it. Da Ros designed many of the Cenedese pieces, so it was probably designed by him. I don't know if it was any of the major shows, however. I wondered when I saw it how difficult it might have been to execute it.

Does anyone know how I can find out about pieces exhibited in the biennale for different years? Are there catalogues? If so can  I get one?

Hi PL79,

Yes, they should have it on record.  Here is how to contact them.

I wish you the best of luck and please write back if you find anything out.  I would like to know because your piece is very interesting.

Thank you so much for the link. It looks as if I will have to visit the archive in person. How wonderful to have an excuse, not that I need an excuse. I love Venice!

Has anyone ever seen a book "Il vetro di Murano alle Biennali 1895-1972 " I know there is a copy in the V+A library and it may help with the identification of my shark piece.?

I have had some super links leading from the  Murano zoo leading to a catalogue of Antonio Da Ros's works that I am now expecting delivery of any day.

PS If you like to read, try the Murano Glassblower what a super story with lots of factual info on what it is/was like to be a venetian glass blower!
