c19th biscuit barrel French?

(1/2) > >>

Margi:
Good afternoon all,

Could anyone kindly id this beautiful biscuit barrel and the age please.  Presumed to be French unmarked showing lots of way to the smooth base.  Overlayed with gold in a leaf and flower pattern.  Ornate handle and lid (broken lid unfortunately).  Green glass not frosted but quite misty.
Many thanks in advance

Lustrousstone:
Could even be Bohemian. It's definitely frosted glass though. Might even be uranium glass

Very attractive Margi  -  and I like the flower image of the Dandelion (or as you say in France 'pissenlit').    Age wise perhaps somewhere between 1880 and 1900 as a guess.   Have you tried the torch yet  -  and is the inside of the container simply smooth glass?

Paul S.:
would seem the server has done the dirty on me.    I had in fact typed........'p.i.s.s.e.n.l.i.t', the meaning of which I'm sure you will know ;)

Margi:
haha yes Paul I know what you mean.  I cannot try my torch on it because the bulb has blown on it :-(
Yes the inside of it is smooth I did do that check.  It is simply a stunner and couldn't resist it there is also a vase that I have got my eye on Art Nouveau I believe just might have to get that too.
Christine bohemian crossed my mind fleetingly.  Please keep your thoughts coming.
Margi
