Hey!!

Picked up this lovely decanter today, hopefully this time I've not been put out of pocket it had a nice look to it so I just had to have it. I'm guessing murano?
I'm wondering if anyone could shed some light on it.

claretjugcollector:
hi there ! italy is correct - it has been produced in venice - Murano - they often used dark coloured glass and decorated it with some silver overlay  - actually it is not a thick silver overlay but more a silver painted decoration - was made about 1950/60 ! so be careful by cleaning it - otherwise only a green little decanter is left :-)

Lustrousstone:
More likely made on the Italian mainland, possibly in Empoli. The Muranese generally put Murano on their glass.

shineyobjects:
Empoli? Did they do the silver overlay too? I'm not really upto date with Empoli.

Claretjugcollector thanks for the info I have seen some decanters floating with a set of glasses. I hardly clean my objects I worry to much. The most extreme I go is grabbing a damp towel and give it a light wipe down.  :spls2: I take it this would of came in a set in the 1950s/60s with some small glasses.

Ivo:
Never seen these attributed to Empoli - the decoration is most likely from Venice (but the glass may be from Murano or from elsewhere in Italy)
