Looked at the old thread and know now (not then) that Wuidart and Co Ltd advertised them in 1956.
So not as old as suspected.

I was lucky enough to find an acorn with a 1cm sprout in the garden.  :hiclp:  But....erm...I've just realised that I've had it upside down in the acorn sprouter...ooops!  I thought the sprout was a root!  Oh deary me.  I hope it survives, it's gone a bit slimy though!  Poor Arnold Acorn!

I have to have a go! I've gotten crocus and tulip bulbs to root in water for the first time this year so an acorn is the next challenge.
