Chinese,  perhaps Keith??   Where did you get it from?  Charity shop?   Certainly there are a lot of Chinese bits with this sort of 'flour dusted' effect, and sharp looking remains of a pontil.  Have you tried washing of the paint effect.?

Paul;got it from a stall at the antique market, would be surprised if it was Chinese with pontil mark and ribbing, the 'flour' is hard enamel and well fused into the body, didn't pay to much,oh well maybe it's far eastern Bohemia :spls:

and how about the rim Keith  -  ground and and bevelled? or simply rounded?  the former indicating quality, which I'm sure the  :or: wouldn't do. :)

It doesn't look like the modern flour dust effect; it's well baked on and smooth. And why would you have a pontil mark and a ground rim? It's almost always one or the other; you don't need both.  I don't think it's Chinese, though I have no idea where it's from.

It 'reminds' me of some Dugan pieces I have seen on the net (at least they are id'd on the net as Dugan) which appear to have  ribbed pattern and white frit.   However the white on yours looks quite dense and 'joined up' compared to those I think.

should look before you leap    - Keith - just realized it probably came out the wrong way  - in fact I was referring to the fact that I had not looked at the rim in your first pic., and had jumped a bit quickly without looking properly.  My apologies.  Paul S.

The similarity in the appearance also struck me, m. But the finish on Keith's vase reminds me of the finish done on many of the mystery Italian "tourist" pieces. I wonder if it might be mold-blown Italian glass.
