Arts and Crafts Tyg shaped bowl with green glass liner

(1/1)

heartofsklo:
The green glass liner is shaped to fit into the metal container cuts, no marks or pontil to the base, top rim cut. The outer metal is hammered effect.

Hi!
It has a vague resemblance to the item in the advert at the bottom of this page on Chris and Val Stewart´s site:

Hello,

I looked at this when it first appeared and felt that I could not add anything.

However, I was left wondering, and having looked again. I now realise that this doesn't really conform with what I would think of as Arts & Crafts. The glass is too heavy and has angularity that is not associated with that genre, especially where it splays out of the metalware toward the base. I would associate it more with Art Deco, even though there are nods toward the Arts & Crafts era with the style of metal holder.
