unusually pale cranberry colour.
« on: November 02, 2010, 08:28:14 PM »
The underplate I found about a year ago - the bowl last weekend.  Both have ground/polished concave pontil marks, and although obviously unrelated, do match quite well in comparison with their probable original counterparts, and date possibly from the last quarter of the C19.      The plate has some 'rose' coloured machine threading on part of the underside, and the bowl is completely plain, but is definitely not amber - against daylight it is a very delicate cranberry, as can be seen from the comparison with the sherry and sugar shaker.   These pieces are what I think of as the usual cranberry colour.      Is this pale cranberry of the bowl very unusual, and is it created by gold chloride?    Thanks for looking, and all thoughts received gratefully. :sun:
