Orrefors "sunday" glasses tumblers any ideas on pattern name?
« on: November 02, 2010, 09:38:28 PM »
Hi all :hi:
I am still around, new job and very busy past couple of months with virtually no free time to pop on and say hello.
I picked a set of 6 glasses up at a garage sale a couple of weeks back all marked (acid etched?) Orrefors on the base, the lady said they where "sunday" glasses.
teardrop shapeed with a little pedistal base
Does anybody recognise the shape or pattern, all searches so far have remained fruitless
Glasses stand at 13cms tall, rim diameter 5.25cm, foot diameter 4cm, widest point diameter 9cm.
many thanks (hope to be able to pop in a bit more soon)
michelle

The etched backstamp is a later one, but I can't find the design in the catalogues between 1999 and 2006 (the only period I have for Orrefors).

Not Sunday but Friday... ;D

Go to the Orrefors website: http://www.orrefors.se/main.asp, click on English (unless you understand Swedish), click on collections, then choose E-J and click on Friday. There are four shapes in this design by Erika Lagerbielk, currently in production.

I would have thought your seller meant "sundae" glasses, but they're not a sundae glass shape, which flares out at the top rim (for ice-cream sundaes - your "fruitless" search made me giggle in this context, but I've got a few marbles misplaced right now....)

good to see you and hear your good news! :rah:
