fir cone or pineapple pattern vase?
« on: November 03, 2010, 08:54:57 PM »
I'm fairly sure we had this pattern on the board in recent months, but can't now find where.    I have looked at both 'fir cone' and 'pineapple' patterns on David Dotty's site - but of course he may have this down as something else.   Also tried the search here and looked at Pamela's vases.       Height is about 8.1/8"/207mm, and with weak iridescence.   Fair amount of wear on the base as the pic. shows, so am thinking possibly some reasonable age.   Grateful if anyone can remember the pattern and/or factory please.   thanks :)

Most likely made by the Canning Town Glass Company.

These vases are usually called "Royal Pineapple".

Also, Riihimäki e-book and Carnival from Sweden e-book.

thanks to both of you for taking the time to reply :)   Of course, had I remembered the word 'Royal', I would no doubt have found the link  -  but I wonder why the word 'Royal' - and do we know when the Canning Town Glass Company was active.  Rather a coincidence that the last two posts to show this pattern were both for a 'pair' of vases - and I assume we are talking of the Canning Town as in a suburb of Greater London, UK.

Could the word 'Royal' be a reference to the crowned top?
