Large signed candlestick ID = Ioan Nemtoi
glassobsessed:
Bought these this morning and after a brief and fruitless hunt for info I have realised I need help. In so many ways. ;D
Anyway, the 'sticks are tall, measuring 15 inches or 39cm and both are signed on the top of the satin foot. They are quite elaborate, plenty of work must have gone into each one. The photos are not that bright as it was getting dark.
Does anyone recognise them or for that matter the signatures?
Thanks.
John

Sue that is fantastic, thank you very much, I am very impressed with your eagle eyes. 8)
A quick search of google images resulted in quite a few similar 'sticks and a host of other interesting stuff by him. Ioan Nemtoi it seems is Romanian. :hiclp:
No wonder I got nowhere searching British contemporary artists last night. ;D
The light was much brighter here this morning, the colours are better in this photo.

He's working in Canada, though. Very highly thought-of.
(By me and Max at any rate - and what more do you need?)

'Nuff said. ;)
I like his installations, you can see some here http://www.nemtoigallery.com/ there is no direct link, you have to navigate around the pages (there is also a giant list of this type of candlestick among lots of other goodies).
