red and black tango with 'swags' pattern and scroll feet
« on: November 07, 2010, 04:36:24 PM »
I have not been able to find this pattern in all the resources I 've looked at.  Can anyone confirm who may have made it please?  (if that is possible to identify) - It is an orangey red but definitely red, at least compared to my numerous various orange cased pieces.  The rim is ground and polished and the feet have been ground to varying degrees to ensure it sits perfectly.  Any thoughts much appreciated.
Many thanks
m

just a question, I was wondering if this might be Kralik - based on the orange red colour and the little feet which I have seen on other Kralik attributed pieces and that there does seem to be Kralik pieces with black pattern decoration.  Does anyone know where I can see pics of other pieces with these feet please?
thanks

I've seen feet like these on other unattributed pieces and on Moser 'pillow' vases, have you looked at Alfredos "Loetz and Glass" site?,if Craig's about he might know, ;D

thanks Keith - yes believe me, I have trawled the net interminably and looked at many a hundred Bohemian tango pieces  ;D on various sites.  I shall now go and have a mooch at Moser and see if I can unearth any more.
thanks again  :)

Thanks Thomas  :)  so perhaps not 'tango' then but a different 'pattern' just with black applied feet.
I shall have another search.

This is a piece I have not seen before, except for one that happens to be on ebay right now about 300 miles from me.... very odd. I would comment that several companies used a similar scrolled foot design including Ruckl. I have not seen this particular shape in a Kralik decor that I can think of.

I would not term this Tango either. It is simply an orange/red piece with a black decor and feet.

I would also always include quotation marks with "Tango" when not talking about Loetz, to differentiate it's use from the proper name of a specific Loetz Decor. Unfortunately the decor name has become a widely generalized term applied to a wide variety of glass styles.

I think it is an interesting piece with an interesting decor, but at this point I do not know who made it....

thanks Craig - yes you are right, I should have added quotation marks.
And I also found the one on ebay.  I thought quite a strange coincidence as well.  When that happens I automatically start to suspect... and mine is in excellent condition.  However, it is really well made, the top edge is ground and bevelled and then polished and there is wear to the feet that is discreet but there.  It 'feels' right.
I also looked at Ruckl but couldn't find anything.
Hopefully I'll find out more in time.
thanks for looking.
