The lamp looked like a marriage to me, Frank, until I checked the bottom of the dome. Now I'm not sure. They look the same color. The color of the dome may be different because it looks better when lit. I don't know if the attribution is correct. I don't trust Antique Helper completely unless I see a label or know the glass. They do provide a good direction to look, however.

I agree with a silk or similar cloth shade. I doubt that the base will ever find a partner exactly like it. The harp on the lamp looks like it was made to support a simple dome.

Fabulous Lamp...
Personally I would put a paper shade with a colored exterior on it to focus light at the lamp body and not create a lit white shade which would detract from the glass IMHO..... Finding a matching glass shade would likely be a futile search......

Possibly a cone shaped shade...... maybe even a gold exterior on the shade.....

I also agree with a post 1960 production based on colors and the lack of oxidation to the brass fitting. My experience is even if the brass is lacquered, it generally changes color with enough age. This does not appear to have done so....

The Antique Helper lamp looks like a marriage to me. The fitter for the shade is merely threaded on the rod that comes out of the body, and would likely have been an easy retro fit using industry standard threading....  The decors of the two pieces do not look right together, at least to me....

Wow Frank,  how did I miss that one...I thought I had scoured that site....obviously a case of 'can't see for looking'!!
There's no doubt it is the same maker....so we are looking for a wider, flatter mushroom shape by the looks of it.....on with the search..........

Wow, Thank you very much for all your replies.
The information you have provided is terriffic.
We brought the lamp base purely because we liked its look and it is great to be able to learn more about who made it and how it was made.
I think we will go for a silk shade with some gold decoration.
thanks again,
cheers,
Brad & Lynne
heers,
Brad
