Ariel vase unknown maker
« on: December 23, 2010, 02:19:10 PM »
Hello,

I recently saw this vase on eBay, which looks like Ariel glass, marked Sweden to the base. Does anyone know who might have made it?

Here's the link:  http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rt=nc&nma=true&item=220712109997&si=O4LzZPDPaqMA0yJ82E8Xs3T4KsU%253D&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWNX%3AIT

Many thanks!

Hi, the link I get is a hanging glass thingy.  It's signed Sweet 97 I think, not Sweden.
Hope this helps

And it doesn't look like Ariel to me - Ariel should be full of shaped bubbles.

it is "sweet", I had a similar vase (same technique and colouring - cased, not ariel) some years ago - I think I narrowed it down to a US blower

Douglas Sweet of Karuna Glass is known as a paperweight/marble maker - the signatures I have seen on his work look vaguely similar: different type of "script", but similar Es and T. Can't be sure, though, and don't know if he produces hollowware as well.

Hello, and thank all of you for your input. It looks like a really nice vase whoever made it. Does anyone have any information on Douglas Sweet?

Happy Holidays! :fc:
