Can anyone read this signature?
« on: January 09, 2011, 06:59:11 PM »
Picked this Murano style bowl in an antiques shop - there are 2 strings of letters etched beneath, one of which looks vaguely (but not that much) like Hadelands, but I cant read the other at all; I think it's Scandinavian - any ideas?

looks like Maastricht Holland to me. Never seen this marking before but it must be an export marking for Max Verboeket glass made at Maastricht until 1972.

??????????????

Looks like the name *Caleb* or * Calaab* to me -- then something after that.  The other word looks like *Holland* or *Hadelands* to me too.

But just guessing here ???????  :-\    ????????????

Not the easiest signature to read but Ivo is right. Can we see a photo of the whole bowl please?

Oooh I would like to see a picture of the whole thing....I also thought this might be a Leerdam/Maastricht piece. Ivo is the expert here, and  I only collect Leerdam animals, but they do keep mentioning Maastricht Glassworks and they have some lovely pieces.

This could be a Kristaluniek piece, might even have been by Max Verboeket.......but I have to say that without the signature, it could easily be thought of as Murano......very pretty pink,  I like it Brian.

Maastricht = Kristalunie; they failed and came under Leerdam management in the late 50s or early 60s which Kristalunie did not survive. (surprised?) The head design until final closure in 1972 was Max Verboeket.
