bristol blue' pressed boat vase (like drapery variant but not the same)

(1/1)

Paul S.:
I've looked at the CD's for Bagley, Sowerby, Czech - also had a run thru the Davidson images and tried Pamela's site (but not the full Master Books) - but wasn't aware of seeing it.   Think Davidson did a colour called 'Midnight Blue' - but I'm not much wiser, and may well have missed it somewhere.       Pressed, of course, and this stunning deep poison bottle/bristol blue (I think it is the electric light that adds the purple hue).   About 10"/250mm long  -  with almost no wear on the inside, but some on the foot.        Surely an unusual colour for pre 1950's pressed glass I'm thinking - which is the sort of age I would imagine it to be.         So, grateful for any help or ideas, and thanks for looking. :)

Anne:
Paul, it reminds me a bit of the Drapery Variant pieces shown on Glen's website here: http://www.thistlewoods.net/Drapery-Variant.html but I could be wrong!

Paul S.:
thanks Anne  -  and you are quite correct, there is some similarity with this 'draped/swag' design  -  but not sufficient I think to warrant being the same......however, you are not wrong insofar as it does remind you of my piece :)      I don't have the time now, nor in the morning, but tomorrow evening I will look at Pamela's Masterbooks - particularly the German catalogues, and see if I can run it down  -  although I still think the colour is unusual for a period piece of pressed glass like this.      Thanks for taking the time to reply :)

Anne:
Pamela does have some blue this colour in her unknowns - I spotted a perfume bottle there earlier which appears to date c. 1930s stylistically. I've tweaked the title slightly to try & catch an eye or two of those who might be able to help. ;)
