Identification Help Required Please
« on: February 13, 2011, 12:59:49 PM »
Hi all, I'm hoping someone can identify these vases for me please. I'm told they are Scandinavian, but after a fair bit of searching, have been unable to identify them. They look quite like a pair but in fact are not quite the same shape. Ground pontil to base (I think thats what it's called!) which doesn't show well in the photos. thanks in advance!

Hi and Welcome  :hi: :hi:

Someone will be able to help you - as I do not know much about this type of glass (scandi) so it could be.   But being in Canada I have seen that *type* of color in Blenko too....but I think Scandinavian is maybe more in line.  What part of the World are you in?  kinda helps to figure out where to start.  Welcome again.....Enjoy!

This folks here are AMAZING !!!

Hi Kitty and welcome (from a fellow citizen of Oz :)

m is right, it looks like the tops have been cut and polished, and that mark you can see on the base is from the mould. So there is no evidence of a pontil mark on the base at all.

Thanks for your replies, have just checked and yes, the top rims appear to have been cut and polished flat.
