Vivid bowl - Monart/Vasart/Strathearn - or something else?
« on: March 20, 2011, 11:49:27 AM »
Hi, any ideas on the maker of this bowl please?

It is approximately 8.5 inches wide and just under 4 inches high.

It rises up a little in the centre of the base and there is a broken off pontil mark to the underside.

It is a vivid speckled blue with dark blue/purple inbetween (almost a "fish scale" looking effect with the darker colour outlining each scale as it were).

First thoughts were something Scottish - but probably wrong (as usual!)

It's "something else", I think, but I don't know what.
A clear image of the base would help.

That does help, thanks - you've got a heat-finished pontil mark - and some considerable age-related wear.  :ooh: But I still don't know what it is.... but I'm sure there are folk here who know a lot more than I do who will be able to help you.

Perhaps a bit leftfield but how about Kerry? TVG does look more likely! Contactable too: http://www.houseofmarbles.com/tvg/trade

Thanks for the help on this one!

It is TVG.  They still make this design, albeit in different colours to this example.
