? Murano Vase...can you please help with identification??
« on: March 30, 2011, 10:26:00 AM »
Hi, I have been asked to help identify this vase....it has a small pontil mark on the base and what looks like a Makers Mark.
The third picture is a rubbing of the base mark....in case that helps.

Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks, Rosie.
Rosie.

Rosie I can't help anyway but your pics are enlarging very small and I'd love to have a good look at the piece.
Can you enlarge bigger please?
thanks

Hi m  :hi:, I will try to see what I can do, but they are not my pictures, they were sent to me, and I have just uploaded them as they were sent.......I'll have a go though.  I wondered if the circle was actually an eye?? I enlarged the pictures by enlarging the whole page!!
Thanks for having a look. :sun:

I'd say that was a fair assumption Rosie!  :ha:  Don't despair though as sometimes we get an ID months or even years afterwards.  :t:

It doesn't seem like anything Murano that I've seen, Rosie. Is there a reason for thinking it is?

How big is it? For some reason, it reminds me of those tiny baskets and dishes you see with a checked base pattern, which I think of as Japanese (but that could be totally wrong). I think the concentric rings are just mould marks. It certainly doesn't strike me as being from Murano.

Hi Christine and David  :hi:

I have asked the owner for the dimensions....she has a whole collection of Murano glass that were bought as presents and so feels as this is one of them, it could be Murano.
I'll post the dimensions as soon as I get them.......thanks for responding to the nudge, I appreciate it.
