Hi, goodly amount of interest in these!! Thanks everyone. I will see if I can take them to my office a get a couple of better pics of them. Cheers

Hi, ive taken some better pics of the pair. Although rustic, as you will see there is some quite good decoration on them. To me 'bottle' implies it's something once used is tossed out, if this was the case then surely they wouldn't have been decoratively cut or is that just modern thinking?
Another point of interest is that one of the labels has 'Shrub' on it, any idea what this is? I also note that the other label has Whiskey spelt with a 'e', the Irish spelling.

Don't worry, Peter  :-* - it's one of those ghastly and misleading myths that has circulated for a long time - not helped much by the sort of official "half-post" moniker - which doesn't describe things at all clearly.
I have banned it from my personal vocabulary.

If you actually think about it, making both parts seperately then "dropping in" the neck part is just ridiculous from a practical point of view!

vanmann:
Hi, Shrub is an old English Fruit or herb based alcoholic cordial

Lustrousstone:
I still think they were for pub use or even on the shelves of a retailer for dispensing into customers' own containers. A bit of decoration makes the contents look better quality...
