Could I really be so lucky? A Livio Seguso fish?
« on: April 06, 2011, 06:40:42 PM »
Hello,

This pink and blue fish (approximately 13,5cm x 13cm) came in lot of glass animals which I won a few days ago...  The initials at the bottom look mighty similar to the initials on my Livio Seguso Gralglas polar bear... Could it really be?

Say it is so, please...  :hi:

You´re lucky indeed!  :girlcheer: Hope it´s a little solace after the lost auction....  :)
(Seen a signed one before - it is Livio Seguso)

Oh, that's WONDERFUL news!!!  I'm so, so, so happy  ;D...   Thank you, Dirk!  :kissy:

P.S.  I won the lot of 21 glass animals on Allegro for 36 PLN... this fish was in it. :sm:
P.P.S.  The loss of the Wiedmann piece is still a sore spot... sigh... just a few zloty more and it would have been mine.

Just had a look at the Gralglas catalogues on the Cd. It´s pattern BS 77 from their 1978 catalogue
and comes in three sizes 13, 17 and 22 cm.  :)

Oooooo... THANK YOU, Dirk!

My husband put the Gralglas CD on a virtual drive for me, but I don't know (or remember) how to make it work...

Ah, technology...

P.S. Rosie, thank you for the kind words!

Dirk & Anik, do you know where we can buy the Gral catalogs on CD. I know that Tami and me both would love to have one. We've been trying to figure out which Livio Seguso designs were made for which companies. I thought maybe LS used the initials only on Gral Glas, but then I found initials on a piece with a Seguso label, and I found a fully signed piece with a Gral label. Catalogs would really help us sort out what might have been made for Gral. (Of course, he may have made the same design for different companies. Hard to know with so little information available on him.)

Hi Anita,

The Gralglas CD comes with Helmut Ricke's Gralglas: Deutsches Design 1930-1981, ISBN: 9783422070134.
Dirk can tell you more about what can be found on the CD -- I still haven't been able to view mine.  Terribly upsetting...

 :hi:

P.S.  The Gralglas book is very nice, and quite rich in photographs of glass and designs.

LUCKY YOU, Anik!!!!!!!!!  I love the colors of the fish. :sm:  For sure that is Livio Seguso's signature.  I have one Gral piece and it is a seal made of smoke glass by Seguso.  Your signature looks just like the one on mine.  I too would also love to know where I can find the CD catalog.

Thanks, Anik. I looked for the book and found a lot in Europe. I didn't find any copies in the US. I am going to contemplate for a while on how much I can afford to pay for the LS information and keep searching. It looks like a good book.
