Another example, this time in Australia, the trails do not seem as well executed as on Craig's. Evidence of a learning curve? :D

Roughly the same size, unsigned, this one does look a little paler: Australian ebay listing

This one appears to be quite a bit paler without the color striations which show around the mouth and neck. also, as John points out the trailing is not executed as well. I did see another one of these for sale in the US at an auction in the Chicago area if I remember correctly. It was quite similar to mine in both execution quality, size and colors. I inquired and it was also unmarked like mine.

Still a very interesting piece......

So..... they say that persistence pays off..... and I have finally solved the controversial riddle of this piece..  I found another one listed very obscurely on ebay and purchased it, hoping of course to find something that would indicate origin. The listing had nothing written in the description, but it was inexpensive and being sold by someone who does not sell glass.....

It arrived and with anxious anticipation, like that of a kid opening a long awaited x-mas gift I extracted my most recent purchase from the poorly done packaging....  like I said.... they were not a glass seller.....  and I will interject that with their packing skills that is a good thing......  Amazingly the piece was intact, although it had survived a trip that it should not have.....

I examined it closely and noticed it was not as well executed as the previous purchase, and the colors were also more pale.....  Kind of like the one John posted about.....  the moment arrived and as I held my breath I turned the piece over in eager anticipation.....  my pulse racing to a frantic pace, knowing I may be on the verge of an important and significant glass discovery......  and discovery it was!!

"Gorgeous Designs"  China  A clear plastic circular label with gold ink.....  Crap I thought.....  not the glass.... just the information.....

On one hand my heart sank, knowing that the thrill of victory had been instantly and unmistakeably replaced by the permanent agony of defeat....  but it did give me hope that the glass of China is getting better.....  Not so sure how I feel about that one though.....  Vase and label pictured here....  Best I could do on the label as it is worn.

There is a large "G"..... below it....GORGEOUS.... Below that.... DESIGNS..... and below that.... CHINA.....   All irrefutably printed in bold gold block letters...... Ohhhh  The pain of it all.....

I hope all involved in the thread have a genuine appreciation for the financial sacrifice I made to uncover this little tidbit of info....   ;D

oh we do, we do   :'( but very good sleuthing and thanks for posting back on it ... and the information is here for posterity.  Don't forget to remember that you liked that vase when you bought it (I think??).  So it hopefully it will still have a part to play in your collection.

I like the first one M, the second one is not really as nice as the initial purchase.....  I will keep the first one, as it is attractive....... the second one will go in the garage sale next month.....

There is no denying that the label belongs John.....  :-)

That likely eliminates the possibility of selling it to you......   :o

Pretty much. :D

I am still curious and would like to handle one but not so curious now that I would pay for transatlantic postage. Perhaps if there was one locally, if they were made in large quantities another will pop up. That is two in the States and one in Oz, one will crop up in Blighty sooner or later.

Sorry Craig. ;)

On p 12 of the vases, in the product catalogue, there's a design called Icycle (sic).
I've seen a lot of these sorts of vase with zig-zag trailing - and several with the trailing actually comprising a sort of skeleton body of a vessel. (TKMaxx)
I did note the similarity of the trailing to early Mdina at the time - but reckoned any similarity to MH doing it and somebody else doing it, is simply something to do with the basic physics of hot glass.

Congratulations on some serious sleuthing Craig - not to mention some dogged determination!
Cheers, Sue M. (she/her)
