Thanks Paul

Hi

Love your Shell Christine - great shade of green!

Can't help thinking there is a similarity to this red one I own.

Thing is mine has the G Hardy label on - but a special G Hardy label with the added words 'Lido'

Anyone know what 'Lido' means, and does the label exclude my piece from being Seguso?

Hi Adam, Lido is one of the neighbouring islands to Venice - I visited it when I went a few years back.  It's very chic and elegant, more like Venice and not at all like Murano and Burano which are fairly small and 'downmarket' in comparison to Venice and Lido.  It's where 'Death in Venice' was filmed.  A beautiful place.  I'm wondering if your piece is labelled Lido because it was sold in one of the swanky shops there, or even in the hotel where the film was made (which is very luxurious).

David555:
Hi

That's great information Pip.

So presumably Lido has/had no glass manufacturers on it and G Hardy exported to the island. Amazing to think they had an export label for pieces sold only a few miles away - I like the idea of my piece being sold in one of the swanky shops you mention, yes I can see someone having come back to Glasgow from Lido in the 60s / 70s with this.

You have given me much food for thought.

Thanks as always for your excellent input.

Pip:
You're welcome Adam, it certainly makes a change for me to be offering info rather than just asking for it all the time! :-)
