Topic: Ashtray & Glasses set, gold floral transfer.

Has anyone any idea where this set may have been made. Haven't seen an ashtray with glasses before, and would think that it would also have had a decanter with it. Was thinking, Italian, Czech, Bohemian?

My first guess would be "Venetian" - but, like most of the listings on eBay (etc.) for these sets (usually a decanter and 6 glasses), I would hesitate at being more specific on the place of manufacture. Some sellers suggest these are 1950s or 1960s, but I have also heard, or seen in books (collectibles guides) that 1920s might be true.

But note that some of these sets are decorated with raised enamel flowers and such work was also done in Bohemia on similar looking items.

Thanks Kevin, I've been trying to find something similar, but have only come across the enameled items. Being a Murano collector, I thought they had a Venetian/Italian look to them.

they did this type of gold transfer decorated glass in the 50s and 60s - before moving off into a different segment altogether, so I don't think you're likely to find examples on their current website.
