The other day, I bought an interesting bowl for $1, but I don't know anything about it (please see attached photos). I'm really hoping you'll help me learn something about it! I scoured the Internet for images and only came up with one vaguely similar vase, described this way:
Marigold or Amber Art Glass Vase w/ Burgundy Flowers & Enameled Gilt Design ~ Beautiful amber or marigold colored art glass urn shaped vase featuring a deep red burgundy applied floral design and raised gold paint or enameling. It measures approximately 10" tall and is about 5" across the widest part of the vase. No chips or cracks. In excellent condition, and would make a very nice gift. Purchased from an estate with a large Czechoslovakian glass and porcelain collection, so it is believed to be of European origin. The piece has no maker's mark; age is unknown.
My bowl is 7.5" tall and has no stamp or signature that I can see. Looking at the bottom, I spotted a bubble inside and a squiggly splotch (circled in one of the photos) on the surface.
Here are my questions:
-Is the splotch on the bottom from glass blowing? Or something else?
-Could the bowl be crystal? (It does have a nice long 'ring' when I tap on it.)
-Is it properly called 'art glass'? Or something else?
-Would it be used to hold fruit/candy? Or something else?
-How is the color to be described -- rose/cranberry/ruby/amethyst? Or something else?
-Is the shape 'footed'/'pedestal'? Or something else?
-What time frame is it from -- '50s? Or something else?
-Where is it probably from?
-Are the flowers and leaves hand painted?
-Is it 22k gold painted on the rim, etc.?
-Is the bowl noteworthy in any way?
-Is it possibly missing a lid?
-Any idea what something like this sells for?
I'm excited to find out whatever I can about my bowl! Thank you.
