Paul,

Firstly, it's always a good idea to check the size of a vase when you refer to it, or them, as
Quote
four examples of Webb's larger vases
I really don't consider 5 1/2" to 7" high large - if it is, then I own a number of monumental pieces  ;) :)

Secondly, do you really think that four examples of one manufacturer's work is representative of the vast amount produced by one company - therefore making that the touch stone to use for the feet that they produced?  :spls:

Nigel

Nigel; not discounting any maker at the moment just considering other possibilities, always worth looking around, looking for one thing has,a couple of times, helped me in the attribution of a previous unknown piece and I enjoy the search, sometimes ::)

thanks for your input Nigel - always a treat to have expert advice :)     I really do appreciate your comments, and I'd be the first to condemn people who generalise - and I did say 'just random thoughts' - so hope you will forgive my less than accurate comment  -  I'm trying to improve (even if I can't spell sapphire).    In view of your knowledge, particularly of British and of the period in question, do you recall seeing a foot similar to Keith's shape on any pieces of known Webb's production.      Speaking from experience, I can say only that, with a couple of exceptions, all of my Webb's vases (those that do have feet)  -  have this flange shaped foot, similar to the Dodsworth examples (the exceptions being a uranium finger type bowl and a blue rinsing bowl).   Obviously, I don't possess a large collection - something like 15 bowls/vases at the last count.
