We have lost Frantisek Vizner

nigel benson:

Jindrich, thank you so much for passing on this very sad news.

One of the most interesting and innovative glass artists has left us, but, as has been mentioned, the wonderful thing is that he left us with so much to enjoy and to remember him with.

I recall seeing his later work for the first time when I visited the Czech Republic about 10 years ago, and found the simple forms deeply pleasing and very understated. Thank you Mr Vizner for all you left us.

My deep sympathy to you Jindrich and of course to all his family.

Nigel

astrid:
I'm very sad to hear that. He was a great designer. My condolences to his friends and family.

And what else can I do than attach a small bit of all that he left us? The first Frantisek Vizner designed vase I was lucky enough to add to my collection.

Astrid

rosieposie:
Cool, clear and blue light streaming through
Your window,
Falls on the work of a master designer,
Frantisek Vizner.

Shapes and patterns gladden the eye
Reminding us why
We are moved by his work you display with pride
On your windowsill, Astrid.

That's lovely Rosie. Do you write poetry often?

Carolyn

rosieposie:
Thank you Carolyn.....I should have put it on the 'Show me yours and I'll show you mine' link...after Astrids lovely cool display, but I think anyone who read that would read this link as well.

Yes, I write a lot of poetry......keeps me sane.  :sun:

I'll post another one in the Café soon if you like.
