Uranium toiletry bottle
« on: July 10, 2011, 02:21:30 PM »
This bottle is fairly modern; I would hazard a guess at 1970s, as it has a plastic bung round the stopper. It's designed to look rustic because it's been blown into a lightly textured mould. The hollow stopper is also moulded and has hexagonal facets. I have no idea where it was made, as most modern uranium stuff of this colour is usually hot-worked Murano or blown or pressed Scandinavian and this doesn't seem to fit either. It's 18.5 cm to the top of the stopper.

Does anyone have any thoughts on it please?

I'd get rid of the plastic bit for a start! They perish anyway and the stopper can be balanced nicely in the neck. I use a wee bit of blu-tack (in the absence of museum gel) to get make it sit straight and to prevent any clanging.
I've not seen anything like it before - not in U-glass!  :thud:

Certainly looks like it. Perhaps that rules in the USA. I'll look further.
