Is it an Archimede Seguso Murano Shell dish 1957?? or what??
« on: August 01, 2011, 05:31:30 PM »
I found this little dish/bowl/ashtray. Its lovely. Flat base, amber colour but also has a deeper reddy amber cased when rotated. And a rolled dip that forms a delicate shell shape to one edge. 4.25 inch width widest, 2 inch tall, the glass is just of 0.25 inch thick. Small fleabites to the base area. Any idea?? :X:

Quite a few companies produced bowls with this shape, Fratelli Toso and Barbini to name two. The colours remind me most of Archimede Seguso's sfumato technique, but that's a very tentative attribution as other companies copied Seguso.

Thankyou for your help. I can tell it maybe quite old maybe 50's 60's from the fine scratches to the base tiny fleabites around it.
