Topic: INFORMATION ON UNUSUAL GOBLETS

Hello my name is Phil and I am new to forum. I aquired these two goblets which have no marks of any kind. I am trying to find out any information possible. How made, any similar items you might know, do they relate to a specific type of glass etc. Thanks.

No idea, Phil.  I notice you in AOL so I assume you bought these somewhere in the USA.  They may be an early production by a glass artist.  I notice many of them are reluctant to mark what they call "production" pieces and these are a little off-centre which tends not to be the case once they make enough - although a few deliberately try for an "amateur" appearance.

In future it would be smart to indicate where you bought the pieces.

Ross, thanks for reply. The goblets were purchased in Sacrameto California. As far as being off center - the large goblet (12 1/2 inches tall)  does appear to be very slightly off center and the base is not perfectly round and does tend to look amerteurish for that reason as well as the way it is attached to the stem. The goblet itself is gorgeous. The smaller goblet is straight and the base is perfectly round but is attached to the stem the same way as the large one (folded foot?). By studying them I am quite certain they were made by the same person. I am intrigued by them because I have looked at thousands of goblet and glass pictures and have yet to see any that are even similar to these. As mentioned the goblets themselves are superbly made. The bowls and stems are perfectly formed. It is difficult to think they were made by some rank  amateur. I guess they will remain a mystery. Thanks for looking.

Don't give up... we keep going back and looking at older posts again as we find new info...  it may take us some time but we often find the answer. Record is around 5 years for an ID so far I think, so don't give up hope!
