Can you post us some more pics (different ones) closer, or cropped closer -- just to see IF we can make anything else out ?? 

Plus post a pic with some white dusting over it to see IF that helps ---- at least give us some more options  :-\  to try to figure it out.

Looks like it says "Nichols" to me, which I assume to be somebody's family name.  I would guess it's from a small studio somewhere.
