Topic: uranium grapes.

these are heavy - something like 850 gms. (almost 2 lb.) - and each grape has it's own stub, around which is wound brass wire  -  which in turn is tied to a central cone or cage of very thick wire.     Size of this bunch is about 150mm  x  100mm (6" x 4"), and each grape has many tine bubbles.      Anyone have any idea of what this might have been part of  -  and I'm assuming probably made prior to 1920 or thereabouts - possibly Continental??    thanks for looking.

Is the inside of the cone hollow, or is there a network of wires there Paul? Might we see a picture of the top looking down into the interior please? I have good reason to ask.

I had a little round bauble the same size as a grape in uranium glass a while ago, I think it had a little pulled up piece of glass with a hole in it for wire.  I always thought it was part of a light-fitting, maybe a chandelier type thing.

Paul, Could yours have been a bit like this before it was 'sabotaged' around the top stem area?

I've seen those lightfittings Rosie, they're rather nice, and pretty big and each individual piece is blown glass.  I think Paul's are solid glass and much smaller, although I could be wrong about size.  My little (solid) bauble was about 2cm wide.

I think they look old as well Paul as does the wire.  If you hadn't said uranium, I may have for some reason thought possibly India if newer though.
Is there any paper would round the wire on any of them?
Some of my old Christmas baubles have paper wound round the wire.
