Sommerso identification help needed!
« on: September 06, 2011, 10:00:08 AM »
The vase was bought a number of years ago at a Saturday morning market here in Sydney and has remained an unanswered puzzle.

It is almost 17 cm  tall.
At the rim it is 8.5 cm wide.
It sits on a padded pastille shaped base 0.75 cm tall and 6cm wide.
The amethyst is set with a champagne colour base.
The pontil is nicely and tidily ground concave 4cm across and perfectly placed in the centre of the foot.
The rim is ground flat and then moves smoothly to round off the edge.
The sommerso to my eye has been perfectly placed.

Could it be Czech, Italian?

Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks
Kevin G
