Roger Tye Phoenix Hot Glass Studio vase, signiture reference
« on: February 10, 2011, 09:34:49 PM »
Hi all
I recently purchased this vases from Wood green antiques fair.
The vase is 16cm in diameter and signed Phoenix glass studio Roger Tye 1999
I emailed Roger tye from his current website (http://www.rogertyeglass.co.uk/) for some more details and he was nice enough to email me the very next day, below is part of his reply

"This piece was from one of our ranges called 'Elements' and we made the pieces in this aqua blue and flame red.
The range was characterised by its irregular and assymetric shapes, which were the result of putting a very soft lime green 'trail' over the harder body colour. As the pieces were blown so the wall of the vessel varied in thickness and reheating produced irregular shapes as the two colours softened at different rates. The most spectacular shapes were achieved in large flared bowls."

Hopefully this will be of some help for future reference. The writting is quite difficult to pick up on camera so ive taken a view pictures some with talc on to try and make it more ledgible
all the best
michelle

It is a beautiful piece, looks amazing with light shining through it. I am a Mdina collector and it reminded me of that at first.
Very pretty
cheers michelle
