Cobalt blue bowl Maker??
« on: November 07, 2011, 05:50:58 AM »
If someone could help me identifiy the maker and year of this bowl it would be greatly appreciated.

It measures 8 inches across the top
It is 3.5 inches tall

There are no marks on it and is a deep cobalt blue

Thanks

I think these bowls are made in France. They often have a number impressed underneath, e.g., '2' or '5'. I'm not sure who makes them but perhaps Verreco (if that's the correct spelling) or similar. There are a lot of them about in various sizes, I have a huge one at the moment that has a pedestal type stand (attached).

The standard nesting kitchen bowls in tempered glass come in clear, smoke and also in blue and are made by Arques - but I'm not quite convinced that this is one...

If it helps I did spot a 7 on the outside ring on the bottom.  Sorry just now spotting it.

That is a mould number which makes it very probable that these are from Arques.

Is Luminarc part of Arques? Because I'm fairly sure that's what the bowl is although I can't find the evidence at the moment (and I can't do links anyway). I've handled a lot of that type of glass, particularly the blue bowls but also the coloured stem glasses - red, green, black, and they're very useful colourful utilty items.

Crystal d'Arques, LuminARC, ARCopal, ARCoroc, ARCuisine, JC Durand and quite a few others are all brands from ARC International located in Arques. ARC are the worlds largest glass makers with an output of more than one million items per day.
