Signed square mauve bowl with white piping
« on: September 08, 2011, 03:48:11 PM »
The bowl measures 18cm tall and 21cm across, the centre is mauve and the edge is clear with a thin band of white in it. The base has the numbers as in photo 2, cannot make out anything else with the signature/letters.

Is that an inverted polished pontil mark?  I know the lettering is different, but it reminds me of this Sea Glasbruk bowl...

Yes, it is inverted. It deffinately does not say "SEA" though. It could be 0/621 but deffinately cannot make out what is before it.

Looks kind of like the Coquille range by Kedelv for Flygsfors.  The colour's right...but not seen that shape before.

Edit...just seen you say it's mauve...is it mauve or black?

The middle bit looks like it might be "OF", isn't some Orrefors marked OF?  Maybe the first bit is initials of the designer, maybe "WJ"?  Any designers with those initials or similar?  I'm not that well up on Orrefors.  Orrefors does own Sea Glasbruk though, so that could explain the similarity...

Edit - I did think Flygsfors at first too, but I've never seen any Coquille that wasn't marked Coquille (might just be me though)...and the pontil mark doesn't seem right for Flygsfors from what I know.

Yeah, Orrefors (or the possible Of) bit was another thought I had, but it didn't look like any Orrefors I've seen before.

I think this is "Flygsfors" "Coquille" by Paul Kedelv. I stand to be corrected ;-)

Just a note here I have a Flygsfors Bowl that is Not signed Coquille that was **Posted HERE some time ago.  Just mentioning that for Wayne.

When I looked at item here in the post --- The writing on this bowl in this post looks like WF OR 621 to me, but that is just a guess.... :ho:
