Who Am I ? Flat free form, Pink and Blue ....??
« on: September 15, 2011, 06:48:08 PM »
:hi: there:

I picked this up a few days ago here, and not sure *who* might have made it.

I am wondering IF Murano, or Chalet is my only Guesses here. .....Guess I might as well Czech to that Group....then (maybe) that covers it all..... lol.  It is about 13.5 inches by 12 inches.  Rather flat bowl...and the bottom shows some wear.  I am thinking it is older (60's/70's era) and the colors are Pink and Blue.

Any ideas on "Who this may be" ???

Thanks, as always !!

Okay ....I have been googling around here -- and *might* I have answered my own question here ???

http://retroartglass.com/store/item/2nifm/Glass_Archives/Murano_Amoeboid_Freeform_Art_Glass_w_Old_Label.html

That one has a Murano label on it and called something "Amoeboid Freeform*

I am not sure IF it could be related or not (kinda reminds me of it)  as I am merely hunting the Net yet.  Need a true ID here...................yet

Not my area, so should probably keep my moutht shut Rose, and can only say that the colours are very like the Czech. Chribska (blown and moulded).   Sure someone will confirm or othewise very soon. :)    Think they call the colours graduated blue and violet, if indeed it is Czech.

Rose, since I am answering, you probably already know what the answer is. Bowls like this were made in the early 1960s for JICo. There are some similar ones in the catalog on disc that some of us ordered recently.

Thanks TxSilver and Paul S:

I was confused on this one too.  When I first say it - I *thought* Murano myself.  But then when I got it home I started to doubt myself and was thinking maybe it was Chalet, or even Czech due to the Pink color too.  I started to wonder just what it was.  I guess my Gut did know better than my Brain....lol.  :ho:

At least I was Kinda right about the the age -- sort of -- kinda close..... :spls: just a bit earlier than I thought!!

Are those catalogs still available yet?  I would die to see that info too...  Where is that info ??

So pretty sure the ID is Murano, by JI. co then?   :hiclp:

Or at least imported by JICo. They imported things they did in their own furnace, and also things made by other companies. Fratelli Toso and Archimede Seguso are two companies I know did some things for them. There are probably others.

I think you're pretty safe in saying JICo. I've never seen this type bowl with any other type label.
